  4. The Health Research Unit (HRU) is the contract arm of the Division of Community Health and Humanities, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland. The HRU makes available the professional skills and expertise in the Division to communities, organizations, government and industry to design and conduct research in the field of population health. Our expertise includes: measuring health knowledge, attitudes and behaviours; developing strategies for health promotion; assessing the need for new programs and technologies; evaluating the health status of a community or workforce; studying patterns of disease; designing and evaluating health programs; developing and managing health information systems; assessing the health care system; and advising groups on funding sources and preparation of grant applications and proposals.
